Carl Potter

Carl Potter is one of the region’s most successful businessmen and entrepreneurs. A genuine self-made man, in 1974 he founded what was then called Carl Potter Enterprises, a sewer and curb construction company. A few years later he purchased New Brunswick based Dexter Construction which, under Potter’s leadership, has evolved into the region’s largest road builder. He has also expanded his business interests into Labrador’s miner sector, the lucrative garbage waste field, and airport construction in the Caribbean.

At his Chester residence, Carl has a private golf course described as the best course in the province.

It is said of Mr. Potter that “he it makes it a business practice to beef up his employment ranks by hiring folk who are even smarter than he is, an approach that has served Potter immensely well in his ever-expanding business empire.”

During the period when Ifan Williams, Director of the Conservatory, was responsible for restoring the building and repurposing its various rooms for their new function, Mr. Potter was generous in his support. In appreciation, he was one of those named Honourees in 2004.
