About Us

Bravura Nova Scotia (formerly the MCPA Association) is a 100% volunteer group of people who since 1921 have supported and promoted the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts, its students, and its faculty. More recently we have broadened our mandate to advance performing arts education more generally, and we support not only the MCPA but other organizations with a similar purpose such as the Kiwanis Festival and Conservatory Nova Scotia Association.

As an organization, Bravura Nova Scotia is structurally independent. We have our own membership, Board of Directors, Constitution and By-Laws, and we make our own decisions about how to contribute to the Conservatory and other partners. Bravura is a registered charity in its own right, and we issue tax receipts for donations made directly to us.

One purpose of Bravura Nova Scotia is to help our members maintain a social connection with one another. We organize and participate in a variety of events such as dinners, galas, and the Conservatory’s Donor Appreciation Evening, all occasions at which students and teachers may perform.
